Dr Ying Xin Show

Show Ying-Xin is a postdoctoral fellow at the Malaysia Institute and lecturer at the School of Culture, History & Language. She works on the literature and history of Malaya (include Singapore), especially the diasporic Chinese communities. Her current primary research project looks at the history and writings of the Sinophone/Chinese community in the making of Malaya during the Cold War. It is a transdisciplinary work that takes into account the historical and social conditions of Third World literary actors, their works and the geopolitical time. The research traces the routes of how thoughts were spread, ideas were constructed and transformed, consciousness of subjectivity was formulated and debated in the turbulent era of the 20th century, through literature. She is also working on the contemporary discourse of the history and narratives of the Malay(si)an left.
