Bio

As managing editor of the Australian Dictionary of Biography, and a research fellow in the National Centre of Biography, both in the School of History, I lead a project to increase the number of short published biographies of Chinese Australians, visitors and sojourners.

I am particularly interested in developing capacity to research the pre-immigration and Chinese domestic material of these subjects. As part of the project, the National Centre of Biography hosted a visiting scholar from Xian University in 2015/16, Dr Tiping Su, who retains an active involvement in the Centre. Finally, I am a member of the supervision panel of a MPhil candidate researching the biography of the Chinese Buddhist monk Xuyan.
