Opening Night — The Colours of Anthropology: A Visual Anthropology Exhibition

The Colours of Anthropology photography exhibition is an exploration of sensory ethnography with a particular focus on colour. It showcases the photographs of ANU anthropologists taken during their research “in the field” in various places around the world. The exhibition is a window into the beauty and dynamics of ethnographic inquiry, a way for ANU’s anthropologists to communicate their research visually and an opportunity for those outside the discipline to gain an insight into the richness and diversity of the human experience. We invite the audience to think about the role of colour in the ways in which people shape the world around themselves, and how they are shaped by it, be it through religious, artistic, political or ethnographic practice.
Please join us for the opening night reception, from 6-8pm on Friday September 14, 2018.
The exhibition will run for four weeks, from 14 September to October 12, 2018.
This is the fourth ethnographic photography exhibition organised by ANU anthropology students. Many thanks to our sponsors for their generous support: the ANU’s Postgraduate and Research Students Association (PARSA), the schools of Culture, History and Language (CAP) and Archaeology and Anthropology (CASS), and the Department of Pacific Affairs (CAP).
This exhibition is part of Australia’s inaugural Social Sciences Week.
