Digital text analysis in traditional Chinese studies: exploring possibilities of the computational analysis of multilayered texts

The application asks for funding of the workshop Digital Text Analysis in Traditional Chinese Studies: Exploring Possibilities of the Computational Analysis of Multilayered Texts scheduled to be held at CIW in December 2019. Four distinguished international experts in the combined fields of Chinese studies and Digital Humanities, among them Christian Wittern (Kyoto), Donald Sturgeon (Harvard), and Paul Vierthaler (Leiden), will hold seminars to introduce scholars and students at ANU and beyond to the state of the art of computerized textual analysis in Chinese Studies. In addition, they will conduct sessions to explore the possibilities of the computational analysis of multi layered texts. Finally, the workshop will provide a forum for students, ECRs and researchers to present their own current or future DH projects in the form of posters and discuss them with the experts. The participants of the forum will be competitively selected and will receive mini-grants to support their participation.
