Wenting Cheng is a Visitor at the School of Regulation and Governance (RegNet) and undertaking research assistance for various projects including the Grand Challenge project Zero-Carbon Energy for the Asia-Pacific. She accomplished her PhD project at RegNet. The thesis is entitled China: Rule-taker or Rule-maker in the International Intellectual Property System? Before PhD Wenting was a researcher at the Development and Research Center of State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) from 2009 to 2014. So far she has published in leading journals in the area of regulation of technology and intellectual property, like IIC - International Review of Intellectual Property and Competition Law and European Intellectual Property Review, and Journal of World Intellectual Property. Her specific research interest is China’s international IP engagement, in particular on issues of data exclusivity, geographical indications in China. She is also interested in broader issue of regulation and governance in China, in particular the regulatory competition among ministries and the central-local dynamics.
