Bio
Tess is a PhD candidate at the ANU School of History and the National Centre for Biography. She is currently researching Australian journalists in early twentieth-century China that advised republican politicians. In 2016 she graduated from the University of Sydney: her honours thesis, A Pacifist’s Point: William Warder Cadbury, His Mission in Canton, and Public Health Initiatives 1909-1937 (2016) examined a Quaker medical missionary in Canton and his connections to the Chinese government. She is currently a visiting scholar at the State Library of New South Wales.
