A graduate of ANU, Dr Shih-Wen Sue Chen’s research focuses on cross-cultural literary exchange and on how texts reflect and shape changing concepts of childhood and youth across cultures. Her main area of expertise is nineteenth-century children’s literature and culture in Britain and China. She is the author of Representations of China in British Children’s Fiction, 1851-1911 (Ashgate, 2013). Her second monograph, Children’s Literature and Transnational Knowledge in China, is under contract with Palgrave Macmillan. She was a postdoctoral fellow at CIW before joining the School of Communication & Creative Arts at Deakin University.
