Hoi Pan Karma

Bio
KONG Hoi Pan, Karma was born in Hong Kong. He received the Bachelor’s degree on heritage management from City University of Hong Kong and the Master’s degree on media studies from The University of Tokyo. He currently is a doctoral student in ANU majoring in anthropology. His PhD project investigates the memory politics over Hashima Island, a world heritage site in Nagasaki, Japan, which involves a series of political and historical disputes between Japan, Korea, and China. From the perspective of media, he explores the memory making process through the flow and interplay between the place, the media, and the people.
