Prof Frank Jotzo leads the Centre for Climate and Energy Policy at the ANU Crawford School of Public Policy. He is also co-director of the Energy Transition Hub. As an environmental economist, his research focuses on policy relevant aspects of climate change and energy, and on development and economic reform. He is joint editor-in-chief of the journal Climate Policy and a Lead Author of Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change 5th and 6th Assessment Reports. He has been involved in a number of policy research and advisory exercises, as advisor to governments, and to international organisations. He frequently writes and comments in the media and tweets @frankjotzo. Frank's research interests on China focus on the transition to a low carbon energy system. This has included research on the design and effects of policies that affect operation of and investment in China's energy sector, including emissions trading and reform in the electricity sector. It also includes analysis of longer term options for decarbonisation of heavy industries and the implications for supply chains and China's trade and investment. Frank convenes a long standing collaboration on related topics with researchers in China, including at Tsinghua University.
