Between 2011 and 2017, CIW was governed by a Management Group comprised of China scholars from across Australia. Under the leadership of Founding Director Geremie Barmé through to 2015, and Director Benjamin Penny from 2016 to 2017, the Management Group was responsible for setting the strategic directions of CIW, making significant contributions to the China Story Yearbook series, The China Story website, selection of Post-doctoral Fellows, and much more. In recognition of this, all former Management Group members are the Founding Fellows of CIW.
