Bio
David has had more than 30 years’ industry experience with line management positions up to and including general manager and director level for some of Australia’s largest inbound and outbound tour operators. He has worked with major domestic and overseas airlines and held a senior management position for one of the world’s largest hospitality chains. David has worked as a tour guide in China and in wholesale incentive travel while based in London. He has also worked as a trainer/facilitator.
David’s PhD is titled ‘How to build successful business to business (B2B) relationships with China.’ He was a convenor/lecturer at the School of Business and Economics at ANU’s Research School of Management teaching undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) students. He has had extensive experience in the development of quality management programs in both an academic and industry context. His thesis uses a matched pair analysis to focus on success drivers of leading Australian tour operators and their Chinese service providers. It consolidates his vocational and educational experience to provide an effective instructional tool for service providers who wish to successfully engage in business with China.
