Jane Liang received her PhD in political science and international relations at the Australian Centre on China in the World at Australian National University in 2016, investigating the role and influence of elite universities in policymaking process in China. Her principle supervisor is Dr Luigi Tomba.

From February 2008 to November 2015, Jane worked for Australia’s Group of Eight (Go8), a lobby coalition of eight leading research Australian universities formed by their Vice-Chancellors. She served as Go8 Director, China Engagement and Web Development at the Go8 Directorate in Canberra, with responsibility for driving Go8-China collaboration and managing its strategic development. Jane played a key role in developing the partnership between the Go8 and a coalition of Chinese leading research universities (C9).

Apart from the undergraduate and postgraduate academic degrees she received in Australia and China, Jane was also awarded with various international computer engineering qualifications, including from Microsoft and Dreamweaver.
